SUMMARY:International Tourism Conference Dubrovnik (ITCD)
DESCRIPTION:“TOURISM IN THE VUCA WORLD: TOWARDS THE ERA OF (IR)RESPONSIBILITY” \nVUCA (short for volatility\, uncertainty\, complexity\, ambiguity) has become a trendy acronym in today’s business lingo. Beyond just being a simple acronym used by most contemporary organizations—business\, the military\, education\, government\, etc.—VUCA has become a code for awareness\, readiness\, preparedness\, anticipation\, evolution\, and intervention. \nIn this context\, tourism as a historically-recognised volatile industry has many issues to address if it is to move towards a more sustainable future. Subjects of interest are many—the fourth industrial revolution of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation\, social innovation and new trends of responsible consumption\, climate change\, environmental-economic impacts\, terrorism\, (labour) mobility\, urbanisation\, immigration\, glocalisation\, tourism governance\, policy and leadership\, gender equality\, and more. \nFurthermore\, there are other issues which must be addressed\, such as public health and wellbeing\, educational needs for VUCA (tourism) future and various forms of disseminating tourism knowledge\, the new age of enhanced visitor engagement and involvement\, integration in tourism systems\, (in)justices\, social entrepreneurship\, sharing economy\, conscious and transformative travel\, destination marketing\, branding and reputation\, the role of DMOs\, social media\, critical hospitality\, etc. \nThis conference is intended to be multidisciplinary\, transdisciplinary\, and postdisciplinary\, with the key goal of bridging the gap between tourism theory and practice. We are happy to have already confirmed our line -up of excellent keynote speakers- Nigel Morgan\, Stanislav Ivanov\, Irena Ateljević\, Chris Cooper\, andPauline J. Sheldon. \n  \n
