DESCRIPTION:The IUCN World Conservation Congress is a pivotal event held every four years\, uniting global leaders from government\, civil society\, Indigenous organizations\, business\, and academia. It provides a platform to tackle the triple planetary crises: pollution\, biodiversity loss\, and climate change. \nThe Congress fosters collaboration to set the course for achieving the Global Biodiversity Framework and addressing critical environmental and development challenges worldwide. \nA Congress with three components\n\n\nForum (9-12 October)The largest knowledge platform on the science\, practices and innovation of conservation and sustainable development. Through thematic sessions\, the Forum addresses the economic\, social\, scientific and technical aspects of a wide range of issues related to nature conservation\, from wildlife to oceans\, protected areas\, sustainable businesses\, climate change or human rights. \nExhibition (9–13 October)\nIn the Exhibition\, IUCN Members and Commissions\, businesses\, partners\, and academia host pavilions\, booths and events. The Exhibition is open to both Congress participants and the public\, allowing exhibitors to showcase their research\, innovations and work to the broadest Congress audience.\n\n\nMembers’ Assembly (13–15 October)\nBefore the Congress\, Members can submit motions\, nominate candidates for the IUCN Council\, comment on the draft IUCN Programme 2026-2029\, propose amendments to IUCN Statutes and Regulations and nominate candidates for IUCN Awards. As the IUCN Congress approaches\, Members are invited to comment and vote electronically on certain motions. DESCRIPTION:The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was launched for signature at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (Rio-92). \nThe UNFCCC launched the Conference of the Parties (COP) as the body responsible for decision-making on the implementation of the commitments adopted by countries to tackle climate change. The COP is attended by all countries that have signed and ratified the Convention. Currently\, 198 countries participate in the UNFCCC\, making it one of the largest multilateral bodies in the United Nations (UN) system. \nCOP is assisted by a Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) and a Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA). The COP also serves as the Conference of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP) and the Paris Agreement (CMA). \nThe COPs are the annual Leaders’ Summits on climate change\, usually held in November or December. Besides the COP\, the CMP\, CMA\, SBI\, and SBSTA also gather there.
