SUMMARY:III Congreso de Áreas Protegidas Latinoamericano y del Caribe
DESCRIPTION:Creado en 1997\, se trata de un espacio de intercambio de experiencias\, académico y de debate sobre políticas públicas; surge como una iniciativa de la Unión Internacional para la Conservación de la Naturaleza (UICN) y de su Comisión Mundial de Áreas Protegidas (CMAP) quienes reúnen a  actores sociales para que fortalezcan sus capacidades con el fin de promover a las áreas protegidas como soluciones basadas en la naturaleza ante los retos de la sociedad.  El Congreso también ofrece la oportunidad para que autoridades gubernamentales\, organismos multilaterales\,  líderes de comunidades locales\, tradicionales y de pueblos indígenas\, así como  el sector privado\, expongan planteamientos que serán trasladados ante el Convenio sobre la Diversidad Biológica\, que revisará  las Metas de Aichi en 2020.
